Converting music to an MP3 file


Most types of music can be converted to MP3 using this easy technique.


1. First, create a music-format CD with the music.

2. Then, convert (or "rip") the music from the CD into MP3 format*.

Yes, it seems a little strange to have to make a CD in order to
convert the music, but this is required to move the music from the
non-standard music service formats into standard MP3 format.

Your first step is to create a music-format CD with the songs on it.
Most music services have the ability to create (or "burn") a music CD.


Creating a music CD using iTunes

Create a playlist or checkmark the songs you want to burn
to the CD, then c
lick the "Burn Disc" button on the lower-right corner.

Creating a music CD using Windows Media Player

Click the "Burn" tab at the top of the screen.
Drag the songs to the right side of the screen to create a burn list.
Then click the "Start Burn" button on the lower-right corner.
